The Daily Scoop had closed the store in Stanley street for winter earlier this year. The shopfront has since been taken up by Mineral Hair which is great looking salon! We have hoped to find a new owner or business partner for our ice cream business to open in a new more exciting location. However, local enquiries have not resulted in anyone actually starting up the business. There are alternatives and we are very flexible with anyone who is interested to talk about running the shop as new season has now started and many great opportunities and events are coming up. The Daily Scoop has been the most popular vendor at many events such as Carols by Candlelight, Australia Day, Wodonga Carnival and many more… We hope to stay in Albury-Wodonga so stay tuned for more news, hopefully soon! If anyone is really interested we do have options to hire an industrial kitchen and prepare ice cream for big events such as Australia Day and Wodonga Carnivale – these have always delivered good profits and would show a prospective business partner the full potential of this venture, which would then lead to opening a new store for summer season of 2012/2013. More information can be found here, feel free to ask for more details.
Why is The Daily Scoop not open?

What’s Next for The Daily Scoop
The simple answer is winter break – we do not make ice cream over winter and will be contemplating how to start the next summer season. As many of our custoemrs know from the note on out shop door we are looking for someone to take over the lease of the existing store – this would allow us to make to a different location when the summer arrives. However, there are many more options to consider – for example we would welcome a business partner who would be interested in learning to make ice cream (not just any ice cream, but the best there is) and share the pleasures of satisfying so many local customers. Our opening hours were limited this summer already, and due to other commitments I am not able to run the store anymore next summer, without someone else who would own part of the business. For the right person there is also the option to run a soup kitchen in the winter – at the current location where everything is ready to go, including customers that were supporting the outlet for the last couple of winters. If you are interested or know someone suitable please send me a message through our contact page.

End of Season – Last Chance to Order
There is some base left over from filling the orders for Mother’s Day last week, so I decided to offer the last chance to order ice cream. Please use the order form or email to specify what you would like. Pickup time will be this Friday evening or Saturday morning, please specify on the order form (click here to jump to the order page).
I wish everyone all the best while we close for winter and look forward to see you as customers again next summer!

End of Season – orders for Mother’s Day
The summer season of 2010/2011 has come to an end, and both Wodonga and Albury stores are now closed for winter. The Daily Scoop will take orders this week for ice cream and sorbet to be made for Mother’s Day – you need to order by Friday and ice cream will be made on Saturday afternoon to be picked up at the Wodongs store. Please indicate your preferred time for pickup in the order form.
Thank you to all our customers for your support this summer, it was the most difficult summer season, as the first half of it was rained out and flooding at our Riverdeck store all the way up to Christmas. The Daily Scoop will not continue in the current location on Stanley Street, during winter we will try to find an alternative location to make our ice cream, and sell next summer in both Albury and Wodonga. There is an opportunity for someone to become part of The Daily Scoop success and join the business as part owner – this would allow the store to be open longer hours in two locations, as many of our customers have been finding the store closed at time which was convenient to them to get some ice cream. If you are interested in running a business with great potential that would make you want to come to work every day or know someone suitable for that role please get in touch for more information. There is an investment required, but it is very low in comparison to starting the business from scratch or buying a franchise, and I am happy to assist the right candidate with finance as well.
Easter at The Daily Scoop
Easter is around the corner and The Daily Scoop will be open Wednesday and Thursday at the Stanley St store from 12 to 5PM. We will be closed on Good Friday, but then will open at Riverdeck cafe in Noreuil Park Albury.
Easter flavours available this week include Hot Cross Bun and Turkish Delight !

The Daily Scoop in the press!
The Daily Scoop was very pleased to attract the attention of local press after winning 4 medals at the Royal Sydney Show. And many customers have mentioned that they have read about us which is great! We scanned the piece and you can download PDF file of the Midweek Express article from 11 March 2011 if you missed it.

Sydney Royal Dairy Show Medal Scoop
Handmade gourmet gelato is not available in many places outside metropolitan areas, and there are not many ways to let people outside a relatively small community like Albury-Wodonga to know what quality product we have. However, it is possible for anyone to accept the challenge of measuring up their product to others in the same industry. We have done that for the first time last year with entering the Sydney Royal Dairy Show, and following our success have done the same again this year. It is with great pleasure then to announce that we have again reaped rewards for our effort and gained further recognition for our premium product.
Last year we won one Gold and three Silver medals in four Gelato Categories, the winning flavours were Banana, Chocolate, Cafe Latte and Ma
cadamia. This year we entered different flavours to make sure we are going well with others across the board. We had to enter the specific categories of Chocolate and Vanilla – those are the classic flavours that determine the quality of your business in the eyes of the majority of customers, so we wanted to do well in those, especially after we narrowly missed a medal for Vanilla last year. We won Silver medals in 4 categories: Vanilla, Chocolate, Mango and Mocha.
